"When perplexities arise, and difficulties confront you, look not for help to humanity. Trust all with God. The practice of telling our difficulties to others only makes us weak, and brings no strength to them. It lays upon them the burden of our spiritual infirmities, which they cannot relieve. We seek the strength of erring, finite man, when we might have the strength of the unerring, infinite God."
Christ’s Object Lessons p.146
We have been hearing that God is really willing to help us. True, we might need to ask and ask again, but God is always willing to help us. A further strand in our learning is that of trust.
A friend of mine went through a wobbly patch and found himself working on Sabbath. What could I do but speak about the problem? His reply was, “I don’t have your faith”. Rather than modestly give glory to God I chose to recognise that I had faith.
How did I know that I had faith? I exercised faith. You can only know you have faith when you exercise it. You can only find out that God will be your rescuer if you let Him rescue you.
So when you read that when perplexities rise, and they do, you can find out something very special about yourself and God. When you choose to put your trust in God you will discover something special about God.
Years back I found myself in the position of having no food left in the cupboard. I was somewhat perplexed. Rather than go to the next door neighbour the recourse was to prayer. The choice was made to trust in God.
The next morning, very early, there came a knock on the door and the delivery of a large parcel of food. The gift came from friends who had driven over 100 miles under the impulse of a prayer the evening before.
When perplexed we can trust in our never failing God – but to find out that we can trust Him depends on deciding that you are going to trust Him first.
Here is the reading for Sabbath – you might want to create your own reading, and send me what you wrote. You never know – it might be that your creation may be the realisation in your own mind that you could preach or teach for the Lord.

"You need not go to the ends of the earth for wisdom, for God is near. It is not the capabilities you now possess or ever will have that will give you success. It is that which the Lord can do for you. We need to have far less confidence in what man can do and far more confidence in what God can do for every believing soul. He longs to have you reach after Him by faith. He longs to have you expect great things from Him. He longs to give you understanding in temporal as well as in spiritual matters. He can sharpen the intellect. He can give tact and skill. Put your talents into the work, ask God for wisdom, and it will be given you."
