October 7
“All who seek of Him shall find. All who knock will have the door opened to them. The excuse will not be made, Trouble Me not; the door is closed; I do not wish to open it. Never will one be told, I cannot help you. Those who beg at midnight for loaves to feed the hungry souls will be successful. “
Christ’s Object Lessons p.148
This little segment of a paragraph turns our thoughts around. We are daily praying that the Holy Spirit will fill us and have learned that God gives because that is what God does.
We might have been thinking, until now, that we are asking for our own benefit. We should have been fore-warned by the subject of the passage. The home owner has been asking for bread to feed others.
While we should not neglect to ask for our own needs and know that God will give to us: the passage reminds us that we should be setting out to feed others.
You and your prayer partner will have a list of people you are praying for. You have an object in mind for each person. In one case you might be praying that they start reading the Bible, you might be praying that another person comes to church.
You might also have a recognition of the needs of the people you are praying for. Find the needs of the people you are praying for. Pray for their needs. The promise is given that needs will be met.
Might I suggest that before you pray with your prayer partner you find out if you know the needs of the people you are praying for? If you don't know their needs why not try developing a strategy together whereby you can find out their needs? When you have found out their needs - you will know what to pray for.
