Christ has said,
"What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." Mark 11:24.
"Whatsoever ye shall ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son."
John 14:13.
And the beloved John, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, speaks with great plainness and assurance:
"If we ask anything according to His will, He heareth us: and if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him."
1 John 5:14, 15.
Then press your petition to the Father in the name of Jesus. God will honour that name."

We have noted before that we may think that we are not worthy to do anything for God, let alone receive anything from God. We can even quote Scripture recognising that, “we have all sinned” or understanding that, “our hearts are deceitful”.
Why then would God be so fervent in telling us that our prayers will be answered? One reason is given in our paragraph for today. God answers prayer because He honours His Son.
We may ask for what we desire because of God’s Son.
But why would Jesus want us to be given so much reflected honour?
“God so loved the world that He gave his only Son”. There is more than honour at stake here. God answers prayer because He loves us and wants to give. It is His nature to give and our need to receive.
Simple request. Ask today, fervently, simply and faithfully – because in doing so you will then let God be God.

"The rainbow round about the throne is an assurance that God is true, that in Him is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. We have sinned against Him, and are undeserving of His favour; yet He Himself has put into our lips that most wonderful of pleas, "Do not abhor us, for Thy name's sake; do not disgrace the throne of Thy glory; remember, break not Thy covenant with us." Jer. 14:21. When we come to him confessing our unworthiness and sin, He has pledged Himself to give heed to our cry. The honour of His throne is staked for the fulfilment of His word unto us."
