June 22

Alone He must tread the path; alone He must bear the burden. Upon Him who had lain off His glory and accepted the weakness of humanity the redemption of the world must rest. He saw and felt it all, but His purpose remained steadfast. Upon His arm depended the salvation of the fallen race, and He reached out His hand to grasp the hand of Omnipotent Love.

Camp meeting is coming up, I hope that you will attend or watch the streaming of the event. The short reading talks about the responsibility that Jesus felt. I remember the time when the video recording for the DVD of one whole sermon failed. We couldn’t have that. It became my responsibility to rebuild the whole sermon. I could have abandoned my trial but I knew people wanted that one video. I could never have done the edit without a crowd of people supporting the editor.

Jesus faced a far more serious situation. The whole world depended on him! He was not out to prove how wonderful He was. Jesus did not try to show that He was better than anyone else. Jesus was there to serve.

I love the picture of the Creator of the universe reaching out to touch His Father’s hand. He would have felt the reassurance of support.

If the Son realised His need of support at the start of a new task so should we. At the start of the week, stretch out your hand to grasp the hand of Omnipotent Love. You can do that with one short prayer.

There is still a problem with my computer that makes it very hard for me to receive emails. So I stretched out my hand and had a suggested song offered to me by Sherie. Your song for today is, ‘Of the deep, deep love of Jesus’ by Selah. Thanks Sherie. Please click on the picture to listen.

The point of this short blog will become clear if you decide to use this reading in the way we intend it. Netherfield Seventh-day Adventist Church believes in healthy churches. You can see what that means if you head to the relevant Healthy Churches page of the website. We also want other churches to be healthy. That means you can join in our campaign to create healthy churches, with healthy people serving the people in those churches.

A healthy church is one where Jesus comes first. A healthy church is one where the people work together to put Jesus first. One thing we are doing is to join people together to spread that news. I would like you to look at our prayer partners page. This will explain how we want you to use this short devotional. Very basically we want you to find a like-minded Christian friend who you will join with to : choose to pray together every day, decide together on a way to serve other people together, to help them grow as Christians - and to invite the Holy Spirit into your life every day. This blog that you will receive every day simply gives a common spiritual purpose. If you are a newcomer and want to join the blog with this object in mind click here
