July 7 - Momentum

July 7

'For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.' Jeremiah 29:11

There is a buzz word in sport at the moment if you care to listen closely. That word is momentum.

Andy Murray, carrying the hopes of a nation, is through to the quarter finals at Wimbledon tennis tournament for the 8th year running. He has yet to lose a match on grass this season. Momentum.

The newly acclaimed 'Lionesses', the England women football team, who have just beaten the Germany women's national team for the first time in their history to claim a bronze medal at the world cup. Momentum.

Chris Froom, current leader of the Tour De France bidding the become the 4th British winner of the event in 3 years. Momentum.

Lewis Hamilton, the F1 driver, claiming his 5th win from 8 pole positions at the British Brand Prix. Momentum.
How do you get momentum in an arena like sport where the variables are other people who, like you, are unpredictable?
After coming off court victorious against the big hitting Karlovic, in his interview Andy Murray said,

"You just have to find a way to win, whatever obstacles that are in you way, you just have to find a way to get around them."

Momentum in your spiritual life can quickly spiral out of control until you are in a place where you feel far away from God. Waiting and hoping that your situation will get better won't help it. you have to put the time in in read Gods word, to study, to pray even if and when you don't feel like you want to do it.

Be encouraged - God is waiting for you with open arms and an open heart.

Our song this morning is 'God will make a way' by Don Moen. Click on the picture to listen.
