Yet through childhood, youth, and manhood, Jesus walked alone. In His purity and His faithfulness, He trod the wine press alone, and of the people there was none with Him. He carried the awful weight of responsibility for the salvation of men. He knew that unless there was a decided change in the principles and purposes of the human race, all would be lost. This was the burden of His soul, and none could appreciate the weight that rested upon Him. Filled with intense purpose, He carried out the design of His life that He Himself should be the light of men.

Jesus had a plan for His life. It was well expressed in Luke 4:14-21, you ought to read it. Although the text comes from the Old Testament we have to guess that Jesus put some thought into the statement,

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
    because he has anointed me
    to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
    and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,
    to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.’”

If you ever wondered what Jesus did in the early hours of each morning you might consider that Jesus was working on his mission statement.

     I would guess that Jesus got so much done because he had a plan.
