"At times she wavered between Jesus and His brothers, who did not believe that He was the Sent of God; but evidence was abundant that His was a divine character. She saw Him sacrificing Himself for the good of others. His presence brought a purer atmosphere into the home, and His life was as leaven working amid the elements of society. Harmless and undefiled, He walked among the thoughtless, the rude, the uncourteous; amid the unjust publicans, the reckless prodigals, the unrighteous Samaritans, the heathen soldiers, the rough peasants, and the mixed multitude. He spoke a word of sympathy here and a word there, as He saw men weary, yet compelled to bear heavy burdens. He shared their burdens, and repeated to them the lessons He had learned from nature, of the love, the kindness, the goodness of God."
Desire of Ages, page 91 from the chapter, 'Days of Conflict'
Long reading, short comment. The reading tells us what Mary saw in her son. She was full of admiration for Him. The reading also tells us where Jesus learned His lessons that made Him the person He was. We can also see in the reading the kind of behaviour that we might say were seed-sowing activities. Jesus did many things that made an impact on many people.
I love the Bible studies that Jesus gave to all of the troubled people that He met. Well, we wouldn’t call them Bible studies, we would do as Ellen White did and say that Jesus, “shared their burdens, and repeated to them the lessons He had learned from nature, of the love, the kindness, the goodness of God.”
Could I suggest that you try the same with one person today?
I haven’t heard of most of the singers that Bryn chooses to listen to. I’m being educated a little every day. Our video for the day is by Dailey & Vincent and has the title, ‘By the Mark’. Any song that features a ukulele has to be good. Click on the picture to listen.

Housekeeping details for you
The point of this short blog will become clear if you decide to use this reading in the way we intend it. Netherfield Seventh-day Adventist Church believes in healthy churches. You can see what that means if you head to the relevant Healthy Churches page of the website. We also want other churches to be healthy. That means you can join in our campaign to create healthy churches, with healthy people serving the people in those churches.
A healthy church is one where Jesus comes first. A healthy church is one where the people work together to put Jesus first. One thing we are doing is to join people together to spread that news. I would like you to look at our prayer partners page. This will explain how we want you to use this short devotional. Very basically we want you to find a like-minded Christian friend who you will join with to : choose to pray together every day, decide together on a way to serve other people together, to help them grow as Christians - and to invite the Holy Spirit into your life every day. This blog that you will receive every day simply gives a common spiritual purpose. If you are a newcomer and want to join the blog with this object in mind click here
